Online registration via local council websites allows you to register or change your address without having to visit a council office; you will need a digital certificate, an electronic ID card or a Cl@ve account to verify your identity.

In Benitatxell, this option is not currently available, although there is no legal obstacle to it; we therefore ask the Town Council to make this procedure available on its website and to inform foreign residents of their additional right to register on the electoral roll once they have registered as residents.

We encourage all residents to register on the municipal register and apply to be included on the electoral roll. It is both a right and a civic duty!.

Currently, this can be done by contacting the Citizen Services Office (OAC) at Carrer les Escoles, 2, by booking an appointment in advance.

Appointment options at the OAC:

• Desk 1: General registry and register (registrations, renewals and certificates)
• Desk 2: General registry and census (renewals and certificates)
• Desk 3: General registry, electoral register and social services registry
• Desk 4: Digital certificate

Requirements for registering online in most local councils:

• Resident registration form: Complete a specific resident registration form, which can be downloaded from local council websites  
• Identity document: You must present a document proving your identity. If you are a Spanish citizen, you must present your DNI; if you are a foreign national, you may use your passport, residence card or NIE. 
• Proof of residence: You will need to prove that you are living at the address where you are applying to register. To do this, you can submit your rental contract, the property deed, or a recent utility bill (such as for water, electricity or a landline telephone service) in your name showing the correct address. If you do not yet have a tenancy agreement in your name, a letter of authorisation from the landlord, together with a copy of their ID card, will suffice. 
• Family register: If you are not registering as a single person but are registering a family, and particularly if the family includes young children, you must provide the family register or birth certificates. 
• Affidavit: In which you confirm the accuracy of the information you have provided.
