Have a coffee with your mayor session

The Council has announced new dates for these citizen participation sessions, which seek to promote direct and confidential dialogue between residents and the mayor's office.

The Town Council of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is reviving one of its most popular citizen participation initiatives: the “Have a coffee with your mayor” sessions. This programme invites residents to talk directly with the mayor, Miguel Ángel García, about any current municipal issue in a relaxed, trusting atmosphere and in small groups.

In this new edition, the format has evolved to be more inclusive and effective. Whereas previously the sessions were divided by language (Valencian, Spanish and English), the new calendar has been designed by areas of the municipality. The aim is to group residents by neighbourhood and housing development in order to address the needs and suggestions of each area of the town more specifically.

Schedule of meetings and areas:

All sessions will take place on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. in the town hall plenary hall (C/ Mayor, 5) according to the following schedule:

• 20 February: Cumbre del Sol, Valle del Portet, Vista Ifach and Golden Valley.
• 27 February: Barranc Roig, La Joya, Terra Moraira, Vista Montaña, Pueblo Alcassar, Villotel and Calistros.
• 6 March: Les Fonts, Los Molinos and Racó de Nadal.
• 13 March: Town centre and surrounding areas.

Registration:

To guarantee the quality of the meetings and maintain the ‘small committee’ format that facilitates conversation, places are limited. Those interested in attending must register in advance by sending an email to: alcaldia@elpoblenoudebenitatxell.com

With this initiative, the Council is reinforcing its commitment to transparency and active listening, breaking down barriers between the administration and citizens to offer better services and infrastructure. These four new dates are in addition to the more than 20 sessions held since this initiative began in 2021.

"For us, these sessions have always been an invaluable tool. There is no better way to manage than by listening face-to-face to those who live in the municipality on a daily basis. These coffee meetings allow us to take direct note of the real demands and problems of our residents in order to find solutions more quickly, but they are also the ideal space to explain to them, calmly and transparently, the current status of the projects we already have underway," said the mayor.
