Report from Margaret Hales, as a representative of users on the Health Council of Benitachell
Following reports that residents of Cumbre were having problems in making appointments on their mobile app GVA Salud, and receiving further reports that the app was unlikely to be working before February, I contacted the Councillor for health,Isabel Garrido. She in turn contacted the responsible person in Teulada (Benitachell is an auxiliary health centre) who replied
"The only thing I can tell you is that there have been changes to the doctors' schedules at the beginning of the year; beyond that, we can't know anything more. Whether the app works or not is not our responsibility. For these types of inquiries, patients can use the SAIP service – Patient Care Service (email: hdenia_saip@gva.es, phone numbers: 966 429 350 / 966 429 009), where they can address any questions, complaints, or expressions of gratitude they wish to make.
We, as a health centre, can only modify schedules; we cannot manage whether or not appointments are offered through the app."
I also asked if dates of closures could be widely advertised, as it is difficult to know which fiesta warrants closure. The town hall has now sent out a schedule on Facebook.
And finally I asked about the parking which had not been available for much of the Christmas/New year period. The helpful responsible person replied
"Regarding Gerald and Margaret's complaint about parking spaces, this should be handled by the police and the Town Hall, since half the town is under construction, and we, from the Benitatxell auxiliary clinic, cannot provide support to the public in that regard."

Finally I contacted the Council and asked is there another way of making information available about changes in the health system. They replied it was not within their remit or responsibility. I would rather say that we are fortunate to have someone like you, Margaret. Everyone knows that. Your tireless efforts do not go unnoticed by anyone. We are not acknowledging it enough. Let's change this by saying it loud and clear.
