SURVEY RESULTS ARE IN!

Between 21st September and 15th October 2025, OVFC collected responses to the SURVEY ON PROPOSALS TO PROMOTE IMPROVEMENTS IN CUMBRE DEL SOL conducted among registered residents and non-registered property owners in Cumbre del Sol. Participants had the opportunity to select and add their own proposals.

We would like to express our gratitude to all 214 participants and also for the 70 additional proposals received wich accurately reflect the legitimate demands of our neighbours. Together we can better face the challenges ahead. 

The survey results are summarized as follows:

• Number of participants: 214 people
• Number of additional proposals recieved: 70
• Language: 86,45% of participants chose English, Dutch and German as their preferred language.
• Ratio of residents to non-residents: 48,60% to 51,40%
• The residential areas with the highest participation rate (47,20%) were: 
• Pueblo Panorama (57 participants - 26,64%)
• Magnolias (24 participants - 11,21%)
• Pueblo de la Luz (20 participants - 9,35%)
• The majority of responses (46,89%) to the 14 suggested proposals in the survey were: 
• Dealing with the developer the reform of the abandoned Lirios shopping centre to create a hotel with restaurants and facilities open to the public (148 votes -  16,70%).
• Regular weed clearance on all streets (145 votes -  16,37%)
• Place street bins and dog waste bins (122 votes -  13,77%)
• The most popular proposals submitted by participants were:
  • Repair road road from Mercadona up to Cumbre South Entrance
  • Opening of the abandoned Lirios shopping centre
  • Speed cameras on carretera Superior (Pueblo Panorama)
  • Installation/Painting of median strips on the road from the north entrance to Pueblo Panorama and sail roundabout
  • Removal of dead pine trees
  • Increase the number of rubbish bins
  • Allow motorized/scooter/bike access to Cala Moraig in winter

• M- Resurfacing of the Girasoles road after the junction with the equestrian centre road heading south.
• N- Install pedagogical speed cameras on the section of Adelfas Street up to the Pueblo de la Paz roundabout.

Note: Responses received in languages other than English have been translated into English to present the responses in a consistent manner. Responses are displayed strictly in order of receipt. Similar responses from several participants are displayed separately without grouping.

1. Repair road road from Mercadona up the Cumbre. It's a very dangerous road with vehicles crossing over the raod to avoid the holes. Also the patthetic attempts from Hidraqua to repair the leaks leaving holes and rubble once so called repair has been done. I've never seen such a fettish in all my life for speed cameras. Maybe look at other dangerous areas that need resurfacing before Adelfas
2. Resurface C/Superior from Panorama to sail roundabout
3. Sweeping the streets a few times a year at least to remove pine needles and dead leaves + remove weeds. And also have a few points with large lorry sized containers to dump garden waste, just like Javea has.
4. Install post boxes over the main areas,
5. Regulate water consumption in private and community swimming pools
6. Provide vehicle access (esp for those who struggle to climb the hill) at least out of peak season
7. Provide car access to Cals Moraig beach (especially for those who struggle to climb the hill) at least out of peak season.
8. Reopen shopping centre with restaurant, shops, gym etc, Waste cleaning on roads especially moraig, Resurfacing main road from mercadona to jazmines, nicer vapf/cumbre signs, more street lights
9. An improved road at the top of cumbre where the towers are situated I dont know the name of that área
10. Better calm traffic of Carretera Superior
11. No overtaking signs to accompany solid lines on roads
12. Improve planters coming from Benitachell, paint wall, mountain side, of road on Pueblo Panorama and cut and maintain weeds, plants etc behind the wall
13. Speed cameras on thoroughfares, especially Carretera Superior, where the high speed traffic to and from the Lady Elizabeth School makes dog walking very dangerous.
14. Give non resident property owners free parking at Cala Moraig beach
15. Turning the old Lirios Shopping Centre into a “green” space with outdoor facilities for residents. It’s not a big footprint for a hotel without the hotel being several stories high.
16. Provide a mini bus route around the cumbre to Benitatxell for shopping, medical centre etc. Even as ring and ride
17. Speed Cameras to be installed on the access road to Pueblo Panorama
18. Regular Street cleaning
19. Painting the median strip of the uphill road from the roundabout at the northern entrance opposite the Kiosko del Sol and Pueblo Panorama.
20. Removal of the current speed camera on the Moraig road.

22. Reinstate rubbish bins on Carretera Superior
23. Expansion of urban waste collection areas, placing at least one in the Pueblo Panorama area due to difficulty of access and concentration of users.
24. Cut down all dead pine trees and remove them from the mountain, as they pose a very high fire risk.

26. Removal of dry pine trees and cypresses on Cumbre
27. Abolish parking fees in Cala Moraig for non-owners of cars registered in Spain.

37. For me is most important the shopping Mall . It’s a shame that it stand there for nothing . Make cumbre alive so people wants to be there

41. Why is nothing being done about the terrible state of the road surface between Mercadona and La Cumbre?
42. Roundabouts on the main road from Elisabethschool are more dangerous than before without them; tourists race to be the first on the roundabout or do not know how to use it.
43. Pictograms on waste containers to clearly indicate what waste may and may not be disposed of in them, better control of sorting and excessive dumping of waste in and next to the containers.
44. Catering facilities on the beach or at the entrance to the walk high along the cliffs by the sea. There is nothing there now, more coffee shops at scenic spots such as the glamping site. Replace the abandoned shopping centre with new buildings, perhaps with a sports facility, perhaps a climbing centre or whatever, anything is better than the current bleak sight.
45. Install a container for green waste in the places where there are currently rubbish bins. There is still too much green waste in the rubbish containers that are not intended for this purpose.
46. Maintenance of the Adelfas green strip (behind Pepe La Sal)
47. Local meeting point for homeowners, bar, restaurant, motivate entrepreneurs

49. Restore the situation of waste bins in the streets as it was until 2024; we now have serious nuisance and remove the small roundabout at the north entrance, which leads to dangerous situations.
50. Allow non-registered owners of properties in Cumbre del Sol to park free of charge at Cala Moraig.
51. More regular bus service to Benitatxell
52. Removing responsibility of dog waste in all area including Grenadella park/mountain area
53. Install speed cameras along Calle Superior (Pueblo Panorama) vehicles exceed the 30mph and is especially busy/ dangerous during school start and leave times
54. Speed cameras on Carretera Superior, it is a serious problem with some cars racing over the speed jumps! This has been reported to the Policia but still no action taken!
55. Paint central white line from Lady Elisabeth school along Pueblo Panorama and down to Sail roundabout.
56. Place speed cameras on Calle Superior between the sail roundabout and the lady Elizabeth school
57. Improve commercial facilities in the Lirios Magnolias areas such as shops and restaurants
58. Access to the Cala Morais car park for owners of houses in La Cumbre whose vehicles are registered in Benitachell, as previously.
59. Incentivize other Internet providers. Having one is not competitive, and prices reflect it. we need more choices. 
60. Resurface panorama road and road leading up to panorama / Vistamar. 
61. Create a Cumbre online community where we all can communicate, set up meetings and get to know each other! Very Important!!!
62. Speed cameras across Caraterra Superior (sail roundabout to LES)
63. Check all street lightings, install proper signage on all recycle bins and install proper waste bins on Puig de la Llorenca and all view spots areas, repaint all "non private" boundary walls along the streets
64. Regular cleaning of the car parks / including  at the edge/ and installation of rubbish bins along the entire route to Cala de Moraig. Installation of signs reminding visitors to protect nature and keep the area clean. On the footpath towards Cumbre del Sol to Cala de Moraig, remove the dangerous quarry sites and protect them with netting.    
65. General reforestation in public spaces around Cumbre del Sol to restore the native forest cover. 
66. Stop signs or speed humps on the road running parallel to the main road on the south side.  Junction really dangerous.  Accidents happening someone is going to get killed 
67. Local transport bus route to Benitachell and other areas 
68. Allow residents access from September to May on a scooter or bike to go down to the bottom of the hill for Moraig beach, we cannot access the beach as the climb back up is too steep. Many younger people come in from the cities and enjoy the coastline of Moraira which we cannot do anymore. We just ask for scooter or bike access to go to the bottom of the beach hill during the quieter months 
69. Access to the beach improved in winter months to allow motorized access nearer the beach
70. Create sidewalk on Via Pista which is very dangerous for pedestrians now and it is the only way how to go from Cumbre to Benitachell by walk.

1. Submitting the survey results to the mayor 
2. OVFC has already informed VAPF about the most voted item of the survey: "Dealing with the developer the reform of the abandoned Lirios shopping centre to create a hotel with restaurants and facilities open to the public" and is waiting for feedback
3. Include the survey results on the agenda for the next OVFC meeting with the mayor.

It's about time for the municipal authorities to deliver.
