Highlights of the official opening of Espacio Amigos

Hello everyone!

Thank you for being part of this very special event. I want to share with you the highlights of the official opening of Espacio Amigos at Cumbre del Sol, held on September 18th. Without your participation, this event would not have been possible, and I sincerely thank you for your enthusiasm and support.

The event was attended by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel García, and the Councilor for Social Services and Health, Isabel Garrido, who joined us on this important day. We were also visited by Chris Akin, headmaster of Lady Elizabeth School, who spoke to us about the diversity of nationalities at the school and extended an invitation to learn more about its facilities. Afterwards, we met two students and the Duke of Edinburgh Award program coordinators who presented the "Residents in Action" initiative, aimed at fostering the exchange of experiences between the school's young people and the senior residents of Cumbre del Sol and Benitatxell.

On the other hand, Margaret Hales, representing patients on the Primary Healthcare Council Teulada-Moraira and Benitachell, emphasized the importance of preventing health problems, encouraging us to plan with and answer invitations by the Health Center and stay active through exercise and sports.

I am happy to announce that, from now on, we will be able to enjoy walks around the village every Wednesday morning accompanied by nurses from the Health Center, and that walks will soon also be organized at the Cumbre del Sol.

Prevention is better than cure!

Additionally, Nurse Sandra Franciska Burg, the manager, explained how her home care organization works at the Cumbre del Sol, what to do in case of an emergency, and how to access these services. Sandra, who speaks English, German, and Spanish, has been actively involved with the Cumbre del Sol and its surrounding areas for four years and answered many of your questions.

After a short break, the mayor congratulated us again before he left, and we continued with a short therapeutic chair yoga workshop, where we practiced breathing exercises and joint movements.

It was an enriching morning in which we were able to share, learn, and enjoy together.

Next meetings:

  • October 16, Week of the senior citizens in cooperation with Benitachell Los gatos felices and CumbreCats
  • November 20: Music, movement and joy.
  • December 11, Christmas Celebrations. Games, fun and snacks.

  2. Dear friends and neighbors,

Everyone is warmly invited to join us for the Valencian Paella meal in celebration of Dia de Valencia on October 9, 2025. The festeros and festeras are organizing a special communal meal right in the street, highlighting the spirit of togetherness and our cherished local traditions. Join us at 14:00 hrs as we celebrate this important occasion with delicious food and good company.

Tickets are priced at 12 euros and will be available at the house of the festeros, located on Calle Bufo (beside the little supermarket on the left-hand side). For your convenience, you can purchase tickets on the following dates: October 3, from 18:30 to 20:00, and October 6, from 18:30 to 20:00. Tickets are also available at the boutique Aloe or at Monica's bakery. Please note that tickets are limited, so we encourage you to purchase early to secure your spot.

Each ticket includes a drink, picaeta (snack), Valencian rice dish, and typical sweets. When buying your meal tickets, simply mention your preferred table—Jorge & Mayte or Margaret—to ensure you are seated with your chosen group. If you have any dietary needs or preferences, feel free to let us know at the time of purchase so we can do our best to accommodate everyone.

Your presence would mean a lot to us, and we would love to see both familiar and new faces at this festive occasion. Please invite friends or family who would enjoy the festivities. Thank you for your ongoing support—it's the community spirit that makes days like this truly special.

Let's make this a memorable day together! We look forward to celebrating

Every Year the townhall organizes a special Week for Senior Citizens. The pensioners' lunch at Salones Canor, nestled in the beautiful valley behind Teulada, is truly one of the highlights of this week in Benitachell. With nearly a hundred participants, the catering is always excellent—so you might want to save your appetite in the days leading up to the event!

This sit-down banquet features many delicious courses, wine, and plenty of good cheer. After the meal, the festivities continue with dancing, where everyone joins in, including a lively line dancing session. I still remember last year’s celebration—seeing everyone on the dance floor, sharing laughter and music, made it a truly memorable experience.

This year, the town hall is once again providing a convenient bus service on Sunday, 19th October. The bus will depart at 14:00 hrs from the bus stop at the El Puig building, taking you directly to Salones Canor, with the return journey scheduled around 20:00 hrs.

Tickets (35 euros, including the bustrip) are available at Monica's bakery, or when we see eachother at our next Espacio Amigos meeting, on October 16th via councelor Isabel Garrido.
( but please let us know your wish to reserve beforehand).

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out for more information. Everyone is welcome, whether you're a seasoned dancer or simply looking forward to good company and a wonderful meal. We hope to see you there to share in this cherished community tradition!

Please let us know if you’ll be joining us, and don’t hesitate to confirm your attendance so we can reserve your spot. Looking forward to a fantastic day together.
