Literary festival: Literatura a la fresca

 

This August, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is hosting the first “Literatura a la fresca” literary festival.

The Town Council, through the Departments of Culture and Equality, and the Clásicas y Modernas association are organising this event, which will feature literary evenings, the exhibition “Elles: constel·lació poètica” in the streets of the municipality and book-games for children.

Of particular interest is the event on Tuesday 19th August:   

• 9:30 p.m. Location: Carrer dels Molls 
• Readings by Clasicas y Modernas and the European Union of Women Marina Alta (based in Benitachell)
• Reading of texts: - Shakespeare (in English and Spanish) - Galician author - Tirant lo Blanc and Simone de Beauvois and Virginia Woolf
• President of EUWMA Margaret Hales says 'Support from the international community of Cumbre del Sol- and other urbanisations of Benitachell- will be much appreciated'.

The main event will be the literary evening on Friday, 22 August, at 8 p.m., at the Social Centre. It will feature the event “Voices of our people”, by Empar Ferrer, Gabriel Gilabert, Toni Pascual and Josep Colomer; the book club “Return to the City of the Sea” by María Beneyto, and the talk “Closing of the María Beneyto Year”, featuring Carme Manuel, president of the Comissió Maria Beneyto, writer of the year 2025 of the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua, and Rosa María Rodríguez Magda, philosopher, writer and custodian of part of María Beneyto's work.
