Useful statistics of the population of the Marina Alta

The latest study of the General Council of Economists of Spain (CGE) reports that the population census of the Marina Alta shows 192.870 people in 2023 with 72.580 people of non-Spanish nationalities, some 38%. These statistics came from the census at the turn of the year. 

Two towns in this region are among the 10 in all of Spain with more foreign than national population: Lliber and Benitachell.

From data collected by the Marina Alta Observatory the breakdown of the origin of the people from other countries registered in each locality is identified. In Benitachell out of a total population of 4926, there are 1,234 from the United Kingdom, 274 Germans 198 from America, 118 from Asia and 101 from Africa. However, remember that this includes only those who are registered on the padrón.

The towns in the region that have more than a thousand foreign people in their census, according to the latest update from the INE (Institute of National Statistics), are:

The towns which have more foreigners than Spaniards are Benitachell, Calpe, Teulada Moraira, Lliber, Murla and Alcalalí.
