OVFC Cycle of summer meetings

One Voice for Cumbre (OVFC) is completing its summer cycle of meetings.

A useful meeting with VAPF included consideration of land ownership and dead trees (as a result of the drought last summer).

In addition, councillor Isabel Garrido, supported by Margaret Hales of OVFC, came with a team from the Town Hall to present a communications workshop at Edificio El Puig. Over 30 residents from Cumbre learned how to operate the Town Hall Whatsapp and access primary health appointments.

After representation by OVFC, a further meeting at Edificio El Puig is being planned by the Town Hall on the important issue of Emergency Planning

meeting with the Mayor and Councillors is planned for mid July where we will cover issues such as maintenance of roads, weeds and dead trees, signage, progress with rubbish collection and recycling and the situation with drinking water supply for this summer.

We invite comments, questions or ideas for our July meeting with the Town Hall. Please send before 15 July.

  1. Why are there so many weeds in the sail roundabout? It hasn’t been maintained at all for a very, very long time . Also the flower bed opposite the VAPF round office just before the sail roundabout has all dead trees and plants in ! It all looks very unsightly and uninviting.

  7. I have a suggestion for the July meeting between One Voice for Cumbre and the Town Hall.

Similar to the wind-proof litter bins installed at the viewpoint near the top of Cumbre del Sol north entrance, would it be possible to place bins at the two viewpoints: one on the way up between Pueblo Panorama and the top of Piug de la Llorença and the other at the viewpoint of top of Puig de la Llorenca?

Both of these viewpoints attract many visitors and there is always litter strewn around - perhaps bins might help this anti-social problem!

    Many thanks for your consideration!

  8. Comments for the meeting 15 July

    1. Weeds on all roads
    2. Rubbish piling up next to bin aras on main road
    3. Lack of street cleaning, except during visits from dignitaries and la vueta !!!!
    4. Disinfection of drains on Cumbre (rats seen in the trees)
    5. Control of Processionary caterpillars, specifically the pine processionary moth (Thaumetopoea pityocampa)
    6. Street lighting on the main roads inadequate, during winter months
    7. There is no priority at the roundabouts - Stop, give way etc
8.No bins for walkers on lampost, for rubbish etc,
    9. Road repairs at the top of cumbre where communications towers are located.(beauty spot, attracts visitors)
    10.More police presence.

  9. Good afternoon,

Thank you for the ever interesting information regarding the Cumbre del Sol is posted in ONE VOICE FOR CUMBRE.

As remark I would mention the poor state of many streets including ours (Calle Lirios 136-150): frequently broken open and patched back up. Due to all the new constructions and the crossing of heavily loaded trucks.

I once got the remark when streetlights didn’t work (during the first 5 years since we lived here) and when I asked the municipality to fix this issue that our street (Calle Lirios 136-150) belongs to VAPF and not to the municipality of Benitachell.
This seems quite strange to me. Is this still the actual situation?

Anyway it should be great if the road surface would be renewed.

    Kind regards,

  10. I would like the rubbish tax for tourist licence holders to be reviewed. It is not fair having to pay 390€ for a 35m2 1-bedroom apartment occupied only 80 days a year. If you must discriminate those with a tourist licence then at least have the decency to take in consideration the size of the property and/or the occupancy. Thank you.

    1. Apart from being overcharged I am not happy with the rubbish collection on the Cumbre. I have to drive up an extra time to clear or collect my neighbours rubbish off the streets. Bins are often saturated. Town hall have just removed one of our nearby rubbish bins.
