CumbreCats volunteers caring for our street cats

At la Cumbre del Sol, our community is dedicated to caring for the street cats. Having lived here for over 45 years, we have witnessed the arrival of the first street cats. These cats were either left behind by people/tourists or born from those mentioned above.

Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, most street or semi-wild cats have been taken care of with food, water, and castration. In recent years  these efforts have been organized by a group called CumbreCats. This Private Intiative was founded in June 2020. The aim is TNR, means to trap the cats, neuter them, and release them to the home area at la Cumbre where they were trapped.

The CumbreCats group consists of a trapping team, cat feeders and fundraising team

The townhall of Benitatxell has provided the feeding group with official signs. These signs mean that a licensed cat feeder can place food and water in a radius of around 200 meters from that sign.

These structured actions have significantly impacted the street cat population (181 female cats and 180 male cats have been neutered so far), making the community a better place for both the cats and residents.

We invite you to join us in our mission to respect and care for these street cats. Your support and participation (NO food on public roads please) can make a difference in the lives of these animals and our community.

Also you can support us by giving donations to the Cans at:

Also cat food donations at Pepe La Sal and Piensos Victor are always very appreciated. We also have a PayPal account: CCats.donation@gmail.com

  1. The work of CumbreCats volunteers is admirable. Their tireless dedication to the care of our street cats and their sterilisation campaigns deserve our support and recognition. Many thanks to all the CumbreCats team for making this possible. Keep it up!

  2. Let's remember that these cats are never 'owned' by anyone. Our main concern is to provide food and water, to trap and neuter, to help the ill and injured. To care!
We appreciate your cooperation and concern.
