How to request a Digital Private Individual Certificate in Spain

The FNMT Digital Private Individual Certificate is the electronic certification issued by FNMT-RCM to link the holder to a set of signature verification data and confirm his identity. Also known as the Citizen's or User's Certificate, it is a digital document containing your personal details. Steps to obtain the Certificate with on-site accreditation

The process of obtaining the Software Certificate (as a downloadable file) from the user is divided into four steps that must be carried out in the order indicated:

  1. Previous configuration. To apply for the certificate it is necessary to install the software indicated in this section.
  2. Online application for your Certificate. At the end of the application process, you will receive an Application Code in your e-mail account that will be required at the time of accrediting your identity and subsequently when downloading your certificate.
  3. Face-to-face accreditation atan Identity Accreditation Office. Once you have completed the previous stage and are in possession of your Application Code, to continue with the process, you will need to Proof of Identity at one Identity Accreditation Office. NOTE: At the offices of the AEAT, Social Security and other accreditation offices an appointment is required, please check with the office itself.

4. Downloading your User Certificate. Approximately 1 hour after you have accredited your identity at an Identity Accreditation Office and using your Application Code, from here you will be able to download and install your certificate and make a backup copy (RECOMMENDED).
