RANKING OF FOREIGN-OWNED PROPERTIES IN THE MARINA ALTA
The latest statistics from the Housing Index published by the National Statistics Institute (INE) bring the number of properties in the hands of foreign owners to 56.470 representing 34% of the 166.237 units that made up the property stock in the region at the end of 2023, the last year with available data.
Benitatxell leads the ranking with an impressive 68% of foreign owners. The most expensive street in the Valencian Community is located in the Jazmines area at Cumbre del Sol. A newly built property in Jazmines has an average price of around 2.6 million euros according to data published by the portal Idealista.
The purchase of properties by foreigners is a phenomenon that is on the increase and has also influenced the very high property prices in the Marina Alta where houses of high standard are built for buyers with high purchasing power. It should be noted that the local population cannot find much supply among the more modest new builds.
The luxury property market in Spain is on the rise, especially when it comes to buyers of foreign origin. The analysis of the real estate platform also reveals the origin of these potential foreign luxury home buyers. Calpe, Moraira and Benitatxell all attract the attention of Dutch, German and Belgian buyers. And, as a peculiarity, Calpe is a great attraction for Americans, Moraira for the English and Benitatxell for the Poles.
