Solidarity campaign with the Orba Alfafar School
Hello everyone,
As you may remember, in December 2024 together with a friend we launched a solidarity campaign focused on collecting school supplies. The aim was to help two schools and a nursery school in Alfafar. We really wanted to support families from the villages in the south of Valencia, who lost everything in the dramatic flooding caused by the DANA on 29th October 2024.
At the beginning of January 2025 we drove to Alfafar in a van loaded with boxes of school supplies. Thanks to your generous collaboration, we delivered more than 1,000 school supplies to both the Headmistress and to the President of the Parents' Association of students of one of the schools. They were very excited and very grateful.
That same day, we went to visit the Orba school facilities. The pictures below show how the situation is as of today. Two months after the catastrophe, there is still mud and destruction.
You might as well be wondering what the situation of the children is. Well, they are still housed in small barracks, like the ones you see in the photos. These barracks are installed on the side of another school that was "less" impacted on the day of the flood.
These barracks have become their new school landscape. The management of one of the schools has confirmed to us that they will remain like this for the whole school year 2024-2025...
Our aim is to continue to work with these citizens so as to make the process of reconstruction and return to ‘normal life’ less difficult for them.
