Revision of Benitachell's cadastral values
In Benitachell there has been a review of the Cadastral value of properties in the municipality of Benitachell. This is the figure on which the calculations of charges (such as IBI) is based, in much the same way as in the UK and other countries. According to current regulations (Ministerial Order of October 14, 1998), the value should be at least 50% of the market value but for many properties the value is 20%.
Marinaalta, an online Spanish local newspaper, identifies homes in zone Jazmines being sold for 2 million euros. We have known for some time that the annual revenue of the Town Hall was insufficient to cover the needs of a modern municipality and that it was only the ability of the Town Hall staff to obtain grants that allowed for any substantial investment.
