Office for the attention of residents of Cumbre del Sol

Cumbre del Sol has been a building site for many years. Those years are beginning to come to an end and Cumbre will become more and more a residential area of the Municipality.

Benitachell needs to begin to "own" Cumbre as part of the municipality like all other places here. It does not have a future if it only remains a site for visitors renting properties for holidays or part-time residents whose true loyalty is to their other home in a different country.

This means that it has to be clearly identified as a significant part (actually, the largest part) of the municipality. This requires proper services, beginning with an established place for the inclusion of Benitachell.

  • An office of the Town Hall, somewhere for registrations (such as padrón), a location for official functions such as denuncias, etc. This does not need to be everything permanently. Perhaps one day a week for Town Hall business, another for Police business, one for enquiries and requests to Urbanismo, etc. In each case one or two funcionarios with a laptop and a printer would not be difficult. There are precedents for this. Teulada Town Hall established an office in La Senieta in Moraira (because that was where many of the people were) and it has made many things much easier.

This development would also make it easier for residents and visitors to obey the rules required by Spanish society (empadronamiento, for example). Apart from the technical participation, this would also allow people to feel as if they were part of the municipality- and for the municipality to recognise that it had a much larger responsibility than mostly the casco urbano.

If there is to be a real future for the municipality of Benitachell it has to be a unified concept. A municipality of many small groupings, too small to warrant much in the way of proper services, is unlikely to predict a proper future.
