Benitachell Council is planning a ‘poble NOU (NEW town)’
Benitachell Council is
planning a ‘poble NOU (NEW town)’ which focuses on creating people-friendly
spaces and transforming the town centre into an attractive place to live and
for business activity.
Ten days ago, the mayor
and councillors presented at a public exhibition the six projects that will be
undertaken in the town in the next months to achieve this 'new paradigm of our
town'. They
are making:
- Calle La Pau and Mayor: streets to live in, with
limited traffic movement.
- A Market Hall with bar facilities and spaces to
meet
- A pleasant square in front of the Market
Hall
- A renovated and modern school for our
children
- The Square Pesqueres (with the Health Centre to
one side) made a place to meet and for children to play
- An environmentally designed new carpark to the
side of the cemetery.
Benitachell will never
be a pretty village, but these changes (with many trees and other greenery)
will make it much safer for young and old, more pleasant
and with opportunities to sit in the sun or shade.
For those of us who
live outside the village, what are the issues? Access into the village will be
restricted and through traffic discouraged. This means limited routes for those
who live in, for example, Les Fonts and Los Molinos.
For those from Alcasar,
Valle del Portet and Cumbre del Sol you will need to plan your
route depending on your destination! In addition, parking for the health centre
is important and many of us are unable to walk there and do need to
park our cars. Details of the projects: https://bit.ly/497bVUW
